Custom-built homes come in all shapes and sizes, each with its own set of unique challenges. Some homes require zoning variances and one-of-a-kind building code compliances; others highly-skilled construction techniques; and yet others budget and timeframe considerations. But rarely does a single project require them all. As they say in real estate though, it's all about location, location, location... and this Delaware River Basin home has just that.

GTG Builders appreciates that a custom-built home has special requirements, just like our clients. This particular project required some "out-of-the-box" thinking in many regards to ensure its successful completion. First, it was to be built into the side of a significant hill of dense rock. What's more, because of its beautiful location overlooking the Delaware River Basin, the State of New Jersey stepped in to enforce particular aesthetic codes, which in short, required the finished product to look just like it had been there for 100+ years. These two issues, combined with budget and time concerns, made for one challenging yet very interesting project.
A strict schedule needed to be established and maintained due to the demanding site conditions. With its steep slope, the site had very limited room to store construction materials, so deliveries needed to be tightly monitored.
When all was said and done, the finished product met all the criteria. Excavated rock was used to build the retaining walls, adding to the "old world" look of the project. Many a passerby has commented that they thought it was an "historic home."
